An English Country Style Inn
Full Gourmet Breakfast

Sailing Capital Of North Carolina

Innkeepers Shawna and Robert Hyde would like to warmly
welcome you to the Tar Heel Inn, Circa Mid 1800's. The inn
has been lovingly restored to capture the feeling of an English
Country inn. The living room invites you to relax in front of the fire
with a good book or for some congenial convesation. The eight
guest rooms are individually decorated using Laura Ashley prints,
hand stencilling, antiques, and reproductions. All rooms have
four poster or canopy beds with private baths.

Your morning begins with fresh brewed coffee and tea followed by
fresh fruit and juice. Breakfast entrees vary daily and are always
generous and homemade. The menu includes such house
specialties as cheese blintzes with North Carolina Blueberry Sauce,
Southern Pecan French Toast with Cinnamon Syrup, Garden
Vegetable Quiches and baked Omelets. Fresh baked muffins and
breads are also served.

After a day of sailing, fishing, shopping, bicycling, or whatever your
pleasure, you will find cool refreshments and fresh baked "sweets" awaiting you back at the Inn. The innkeepers will be happy to assist
with dinner reservations or arranging sunset cruises.

The Inn is located in the picturesque village of Oriental, which is at
the confluence of the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound on the
Intercoastal Waterway. Oriental is known as the Sailing Capital of
the Carolinas. We have year-round cruising and sailing races.
Hunting, fresh and saltwater fishing, golf and tennis make it truly
a town for all seasons.
